I didn’t know the IETF had a sense of humor! RFC 1149’s title is ‘A Standard for the Transmission of IP Datagrams on Avian Carriers’. Definitely worth a read. And it looks like a quality of service extension was added with RFC 2549 ‘IP over Avian Carriers with Quality of Service’. 🙂
