Removing Google Fonts On This Blog

I was more than a bit annoyed when I noticed that whenever I restart the browser and load my website, the browser reaches out to Google to load a number of font files. What!?

I quick search revealed that the popular WordPress theme I’m using embeds Google fonts.  Just great… Fortunately there are a number of WordPress plugins that prevent loading the fonts from Google and the one I’ve chosen to fix this has been downloaded over 60.000 times. Looks like I’m not the only who has a problem with this.

So now this website is Google free (except for posts with Youtube embeds…) and the default fonts of Firefox and Chrome work just fine as well. They look a bit different but have you noticed?

P.S. The built in fonts in MS’s Internet Explorer that are used for this website are decidedly ugly but I don’t think I need to explain here why I think that this is not a problem…
